Lyle Evans and Chris Ilovar are going fly an America flag and a pride flag in front of their West Seattle home:

It's a message from the gay couple to whoever vandalized their cars and left a letter laced with profanity and statements like "Get the f— out of our neighborhood. The bible says God forbids men committing indecent act [sic] with other men." [...]

The suspect or suspects slashed all the tires on both men's cars, as well as throwing two baseball-sized rocks — one through Ilovar's passenger-side window, one through Evans' rear windshield.

I recently spoke to Joe Fuiten, pastor of the Cedar Park Assembly of God in Bothell and an outspoken critic of gay marriage, and asked if he believed the the anti-gay-marriage movement was partly driven by hatred. He said, "I don’t think it’s a hate issue."

"I think that is the way the gay side likes to characterize it, but I don’t know anyone who hates gays," Fuiten continued. "I think it is just a complete misrepresentation. It’s visions of what our society should be—they’re just different. I have one, and gay activists have a different vision. The question is who are we going to get to follow us."

Sorry, Joe, but your "vision" is one in which heterosexual, Bible-beating, Christians believe they are entitled to a nation of laws written within their idea of morality. It's a vision in which God is on the side of oppressing gay people. That vision, as you can see here, also features regular stories about boneheads like this bullying, threatening, terrorizing, and killing gay people. That's a hateful vision, Joe.

As for Evans and Ilovar—and their big, lovable pride flag—God bless them.
