On the heels of last week's proposal to the legislature by University of Washington students seeking ways to avert more cuts to higher education, today the "Defend Education for the 99% Coalition" is calling for a rally on the UW Quad on Wednesday, Nov. 9, at 12:15 p.m.

WHY: A growing movement of students, workers, faculty and alumni are taking action to demand that the state spend our money on education and essential services for the 99%—not tax breaks for the 1%. As the special legislative session approaches, it’s becoming increasingly clear that policy makers need to pass revenue sources funded by banks and others who have continued to profit and can pay more to maintain these critical services.

The special session, by the way, begins Nov. 28 in Olympia.
