At 1:00 p.m., roughly 30 people reportedly associated with Occupy Seattle stormed a public meeting at the Horace Mann building on 24th Avenue and Cherry Street in the Central District to "reclaim the space for the community," according to texts sent out from one Occupier. "Police are outside, MOVE NOW!" the text continued.

At the time of the flash occupation, the building was being used for a mentorship program for high school dropouts, says hot news tipper Paul, who's reporting from the scene. Police were called when the meeting was interrupted. East Precinct Sergeant Rivera confirms that two people were arrested at Horace Mann for refusing to leave the building "but I'm not sure if they were with Occupy Seattle," he says. "There were members of Occupy Seattle present but most of them left when instructed."

It's unclear why the group targeted the building—could it be the first clumsy step in Occupy Seattle's plan to branch out or is it a fringe group's attempt to clash with police?—but regardless, it appears they failed in their reclamation. Five police cars and vans just pulled away from the scene and Paul reports that a small crowd of people is now aimlessly milling about out front of the locked doors.
