The SPD's Image Makeover

Posted by on Thu, Dec 22, 2011 at 10:03 AM

Yesterday we asked you to vote on a new SPD logo that reflected our current policing zeitgeist. We even invited reader submissions. This one comes from Adam, who did a smashing job, and he writes, "It's a can of pepper spray featuring Chief Diaz's lovely little cookie duster."

Good show, Adam. Nothing says "we embrace change" like owning our past mistakes. Meanwhile, our online poll shows Slog voters narrowly rejecting a new SPD logo of "Rifle on squad car" (with 21 percent of the vote) to their ultimate preference: "The Stranger offices getting raided by SPD" (with 23 percent of the vote). We'll get on updating swapping the logo in those joke tweets we posted yesterday with SPD's hot new look.

I hated the tweets, but this is pretty fucking funny.

The tweets would have been funnier if you'd done about half as many as them.

This is the stupidest-looking thing that's ever been on Slog. Well, since you ran Will in Seattle's picture.

The pepper canister looks like the head of Alien.

While you're owning your mistakes, how about owning the faked tweet thing was pretty fucking stupid all around?

@5) Calling them "Our Stupid Twitter Jokes" in the headline wasn't enough? Tough crowd.
