Huge Crowds Line Up for Kim's Funeral: "Tens of thousands of North Koreans lined snow-covered streets on Wednesday, wailing and clutching their chests as a black hearse carried late leader Kim Jong Il's body through the capital for a final farewell that ended with a 21-gun salute."

Why Was Traffic So Bad on I-5 Last Night?: Because of an overturned Diesel tanker. Thankfully, there were no injuries and no spills.

Cute: Obama has pardoned four sea turtles.

Lower Queen Anne Food Band Will Reopen: Hundreds of donations have been received, and money is still coming in.

Portland Man Invades Home With Tiki Torch: Police say the suspect was "probably under the influence of drugs." No shit.

People Are Pissed at the Humane Society: They euthanized a cat because a man couldn't immediately pay $400 for medical treatment.

Silly Bird, You Went the Wrong Way: "A rare Asian hooded crane, normally seen only in Southeast Asia, China and Japan," ended up in Tennessee.

"Disgusting, Vile Trash": That's what someone at Fox News called Bill Maher after Maher's Tweet about Tim Tebow.

A Crocodile Stole a Lawnmower: True story!

I Don't Know Who Jason Taylor Is: But he plays football and apparently he's retiring.

Did you See This?: Paul Constant knows the future!

And now, one of my favorite clips of the current season of HBO's 24/7: Road to the Winter Classic:

Are they gonna preserve Kim under glass for years and years, like they did with the leaders of the Soviet Union? I thought that was deeply weird.

I was amazed by the 70s vintage Lincoln limousine in the Kim funeral cortege. Then someone pointed out it's the same limo used to bear Kim's father's coffin back in '94. Powerful imagery to underscore the line of succession, with Kim's son on display walking alongside the car.

Bill Maher cracks me up. Never more than when he gets FOX News religious fanatic's undies in a bundle.

@3 I agree. If Bill Maher isn't pissing of Fox News, he's doing it wrong.

Maher has said much worse about other religious people, but speak ill of precious Tebow and "off with his head!"

As exciting as the idea of a food band seems, I'm glad Queen Anne is getting a food bank instead. The holidays may be on their way out, but it's always the right season to give to families in need.

When Tebow wins, it's a message from God. But when he loses, it's not?

Megan, if you haven't gotten to the second episode of 24/7, you have a huge treat waiting for you. It's one of the best hours of hockey in history.

Bryz should have his own show. He can just sit there and impart his philosophy, knowledge and observations about life. I'd totally watch it.

@6: No. The quick prayer on the field is for spiritual and physical fortitude, not asking God to rig the game.

If Tebow was a Muslim praying, Maher wouldn’t dare go there.

@8 - Because Fox would already be there.

#8 - Maher has gone there, and often. In fact, he even went to the Middle East to talk to some very militant Muslims, face-to-face. So please stop commenting on shit you know nothing of. Thanks.

@10: So what? It's more conducive for a comedian in America to bash Christians and Jews than it is to bash Muslims.

@11 Comedians are more cautious when talking about Moslems, because Moslems are more inclined to murder people for making fun of them. It has more to do with self preservation than political correctness.

@11: Most religious people in this country are Christian. It's a simple issue of demographics.

Maher is an atheist. All religions are open fodder to his comic satire. Perhaps if you watched something other than fox, you'd know that.

@ 17 - Is one of the tenets of atheism to make fun of other peoples' belief systems? It's not like Maher is the only atheist throwing around that "Flying Spaghetti Monster" crap.

@17: he didn't really go after buddhists, for instance, in religulous. his ire is aimed at the religions that actively fuck our planet up, or should i say religion: the 3 abrahamic monotheisms.

@18, which religion does not make hay out of the foibles of nonadherents? Atheists taking a page from that playbook is quite understandable - in fact, if they didn't it would be bizarre.

Every time I see that douche drop a knee I want to smack him upside the head and scream "Matthew 6 verses 5 through 8 mother fucker!" That's not faith. It's attention whore theatre.

No one, with the possible exception of actual fans of whatever shitty team he plays for, should care about Tim Tebow. Not Christians, not atheists, no one. His gauche showmanship on the field is the opposite of news. Just because he acts ostentatiously pious doesn't make his antics any different in nature from Dennis Rodman's.

And Bill Maher is a shock jock. He doesn't speak for anyone. He just has opinions, and he tries to get attention.

Also, I am uncomfortable with the idea of "pardoning" endangered animals. It feels too much like if the President "pardoned" a Native American tribe. It's like... really? You haven't already done enough by nearly exterminating them, now you have to label your oh-so-gracious decision to let the few survivors go on surviving as a "pardon"? I guess I'm nitpicking what was meant to be an amusing, generous act, but it does not sit well with me.

@25,

Which one do you think isn't an Abrahamic monotheism? Judaism, Christianity, and Islam trace their origins back to Abraham.

I want to know what crime the sea turtles committed that they had to be pardoned rather than just serving out their sentences.
