Located in a beautiful, abandoned storefront (it used to be a nightclub and, before that, a Woolworth's) at 504 Locust in downtown Des Moines, Occupy the Caucus has set up an impressive base of operations. On one wall, volunteers ladle out free food. There's an information booth selling t-shirts and helping people get oriented with the headquarters. A teenage girl directs me to Stephen Toothman, a media liason for Occupy the Caucuses. He says the primary goal of the group is to convince Iowans to vote for "Uncommitted" as a way to protest the corporate sponsorship behind the current candidates. Volunteers have flooded in from around the country, and Toothman has granted interviews to news outlets from as far away as London and Japan.

Occupy the Caucus is planning a "celebratory rally" today at 4 pm at the People's Park, followed by a planning meeting at 5 pm at their headquarters. After the caucuses, at 9 pm, they'll be holding a press conference, followed by a dance party. "These candidates may think they're done with us once they leave Iowa tomorrow," Toothman says, "but they've got a big surprise coming." He's heard through the pipeline that Occupy New Hampshire started making Occupy the Primary plans a couple weeks ago, and the South Carolina branch of Occupy the Primary just had their first meeting, too. "We'll follow [the Republican candidates] all the way to the convention," Toothman says, "And beyond."
