The "people," and I use that term loosely, who implemented this legislation can't feel shame, or pity, or remorse, or any other sympathetic human emotions. All that's left are hatred, insatiable greed, and sadistic joy from harming others. And that goes double for the criminally insane psychopaths, compulsive liars, and kleptomaniacs that control our political, financial, and eCONomic systems, otherwise known as "AmeriKKKa's Best and Brightest."

This is reprehensible. Even Rick Perry and George W. Bush would oppose this.

Spare yourselves the comments section, where the good Christian people of Kansas repeatedly make the argument that denying food to children who are U.S. citizens is a great idea because their parents might be Mexican and we hate Mexicans.

On that thought, can we take taxpayer provided benefits away from Mitt Romney too?

Is this even legal?

What they're saying is you're ineligible for this because of who you're related to.

@ 4,

I've been researching ways to deliver lethal electrical shocks back through keyboards for quite some time now. Sadly, no such luck.

is empathy a mutation that just doesn't showup in the genetic makeup of large swaths of people? I don't know how these people can stand themselves at the end of the day.

@5,

I find it hard to believe that it is. We're talking basic equal protection here.

This is the Republican Political Machine in action. Everyone needs to know this is happening. What do you want to bet that the Librul Media ignores the story.

This is clearly unconstitutional to say nothing of immoral. Starving children is not America. Disgraceful.

Here we have Christian, Pro-Lifers in action. The parents of these kids are probably each doing three jobs that the legislators won't do, and they're thanked by having their children go hungry.

Along with the slaughter of the Dem campaign manager's son's cat and now this - the Christian right/GOP?Teavangelicals have become a fucking cancer in our society.

This is BEYOND despicable.

Couldn't they just compromise and count the kids as 3/5? It is Kansas, after all.

@3 People who pay no federal income tax still pay sales tax, payroll tax, sin tax (cigarettes and beer). Also the simple fact is of most of our country's wealth wasn't pooled in the collective pockets of a couple hundred thousand people then there would be enough money in the middle and lower classes for them not to need assistance to simply put food on the table. But then again that would be socialism so what do I know?

The article had a number of quotes claiming that the move was motivated by the old system being "unfair" toward all-citizen families.

So naturally, rather than making things "fair" by providing benefits to people who need but don't have, we make things "fair" by taking benefits away from people who have because they need.

Not only is this likely illegal it's also rather stupid. Most children of illegal immigrants are U.S. citizens or have one parent that is a citizen or legal immigrant. I don't forsee this having much impact so it's just election-day pandering to bigots.

Because letting children starve is sure to bring America to prosperity.

These are children. CHILDREN, who will be physically and mentally stunted for life if they go through a serious spell of malnutrition. CHILDREN.
