Short Film Fridays

Posted by on Fri, Mar 23, 2012 at 4:25 PM

This week's short is Drew Christie’s “Hi! I’m Nutria,” a funny and informative film that was recently posted by New York Times and presents a defense of the unloved and ugly rodent. Drew Christie’s “The Man Who Shot the Man Who Shot Lincoln” was posted on Short Film Friday not too long ago, and his short “Song of the Spindle” screened at Sundance 2012. Drew Christie’s lives in Seattle.

Because Northwest Film Forum is a big supporter of Drew Christie, I recommend you support this institution by attending one of the movies (Gerhard Richter Painting, Gainsbourg, the Man Who Loved Women) screening there this weekend. Yes, Gainsbourg really loved to fuck women.

The man who shot the man who shot Lincoln was much better. This one is too preachy.

This video made me miss my nutria trapping (and eating) youth in South Louisiana. For the record, nutria are as mean as hell. Accidentally walk up on one in some high marsh grass, and your ass better be sprinting backwards. They are not cute, nor are they cuddly. In 1978, I could get $8 for a good hide. As a teenager with borrowed traps, I could average $80 a day during the season.
