Joshua Mayers explains what was going on when Colin Clark, a midfielder for the (losing) Houston Dynamo, decided it was time to call someone a faggot at last night's Sounders game:
It all stemmed from a controversial throw-in decision that went to Houston, even though the ball appeared to go out off of Clark. As he ran to the sideline to take the throw-in, Clark raised his hand as a target for the ball boy to throw him the ball. The ball was rolled out on the ground instead, which triggered the slur.
Clark has now apologized—as he should—via Twitter:
The score, by the way: Sounders 2, Dynamo 0.
