New Uniforms, Same Players

  • Seattle Seahawks

Nike just unveiled new NFL uniforms today, and according to SB Nation the Seahawks may have gotten the most dramatic redesign in the league.

Personally, I can't even remember what the old uniforms look like—that's how much I pay attention to stuff like this. But apparently it's a big deal or something, so here ya go.

Now if only somebody would redesign the Seahawks' offense....

Is that Sounders green I see?

Neon green and it needs to go away.

Goldy if you would pay attention you would realize the Hawks offense is getting rebuilt, and since it had to be completely redone it takes time. We seemed to have gotten a quality QB this year so that should help.

Hawks still suck. New uniforms won't change that.

Those new uniforms are pretty terrible. Neon green? Really? How 1987. I wonder if Brian Bosworth will come suit up this year...

@1 Hawks' have had it in their scheme since 2002. I'm not sure what the Sounder's uniforms looked like prior to them moving to Qwest, now Century link.

@1 The Seahawks have been using the neon green for a number of years now. Three years ago they actually had a full on neon green alternate uniform. I like that the 'Hawks and Sounders colors complement each other.

Let's hope that having the full off-season and the continued development of young players (particularly on the O-line) will improve the offesne this year. Truth be told, what I'm really excited about this year is the defense. Carroll and Schneider are building something great on that side of the ball.

@seattle14

I actually like the consistency of having all of our teams have similar color palates. The Mariners, Seahawks, and Sounders are all in the same neighborhood. I could see an NHL team going in that direction. Though if we get a NBA team, the Sonics will be out of step.

Maybe *this* uniform redesign will finally fix the organizational problems.

They look like a college team. Which is sort of appropriate.

@8 What organizational problems? The business end of the franchise is finally running smoothly again. It's a nice change from the 2008 and 2009 seasons. I don't think any serious NFL observer would classify us as a franchise in disarray, we're not the freaking Bengals.

These are actually pretty close to what they were rockin' in the Jim Zorn/Jack Patera years.

They could stand to turn that green down a few notches.

@10

Somehow the Bengals have become stable. They made the playoffs, they have a quarterback, they have tons of draft picks, and they play in a division with two old expensive teams ripe for collapse.

@10: No, we're not the Bengals. But we may be the Chiefs. Indecision with personnel, inability to transition gracefully from older to younger talent, a penchant for big-splash coaching moves with no patience afterward, and, of course, an obsession with reinventing the uniform. This is an organization that is always looking for the magic bullet rather than stability and hard work.

These aren't bad at all. The home uniforms are actually nice. I'm just glad the Giants uniforms stayed the same.

We just hired a kick-ass QB. That's the definition of redesiging the offense.

@5 and 6, thank you. I think you can tell it's been many years since a Seahawk caught my attention.

@12/13 - Yeah, I guess the Bengals are on the upswing, I just got used to holding them up as an example of a mismanaged franchise.

RE: personnel and roster turnover - what part of "rebuilding" isn't computing? Of course a new administration is going to jettison the previous regime's players . So far this year, besides signing Matt Flynn and Jason Jones, all we've done is extend contracts to core players like Lynch, Bryant, and Robinson. I think the era of massive roster churn is effectively over, now that they have a core of guys they like. Allen has so far been willing to give Carroll and Schneider some time to create stability, and I think we'll see it come together more this year.

Can we throw Skittles at Lynch anymore, or does Travon own the right to them now?

@14 The G-Men had an awesome redesign a few years back. I still think their red top, grey bottoms are the hottest in the League.

Send the Seahawks to Oklahoma City along with Paul Allen. And the Mariners too. Sick of the millionaire/billionaire welfare queens.

Does the new uniform actually include the Nike swoosh? That has to violate some league rules against advertising on the players, doesn't it?

@29 -- I'm with you. Let's ditch the Opera, the SAM, the SAAM and the symphony while we're at it. Oh and 1% for the arts, too.

Goddamned welfare queens.

Not a single fucking word written in post number 13 is anything remotely resembling accuracy.

@30 This is the first year of Nike exclusively designing and manufacturing the NFL uniforms and team product. Previously that job went to Reebok. All teams now have their uniforms designed by Nike. Seahawks are the only team this season to go through a redesign but others are expected to follow suit in the future. Since Nike is the exclusive manufacturer they have NFL approval for their logo to be included on the uniforms just as Reebok did.
