There was a weird moment in Mitt Romney's victory speech last night, in which he accused Barack Obama of being out-of-touch, after "years of flying around on Air Force One" and being surrounded by yes-men. I thought it was interesting, because Romney has always been the one who has been accused of being out-of-touch when it comes to the poor and the middle class. And then today, Romney defended Paul Ryan's Medicare-killing budget by saying that President Obama wants to destroy Medicare.

I think this—responding to "you're stupid" taunts with barely there retorts like "no, YOU'RE stupid"—is a real Romney strategy. It's the equivalent of a boxer hugging his opponent close to keep him from throwing punches. I have no idea if it'll work in the long term, but it sure is entertaining at the moment. I can't wait for Romney to accuse Obama of being too wealthy.
