Bigots Are Like Cockroaches: If You Find One, You're Infested

Posted by on Wed, Apr 11, 2012 at 2:28 PM

Conservative site National Review has fired their second contributor this week for egregious racism:

Unbeknowst to us, occasional Phi Beta Cons contributor Robert Weissberg (whose book was published a few years ago by Transaction) participated in an American Renaissance conference where he delivered a noxious talk about the future of white nationalism. He will no longer be posting here. Thanks to those who brought it to our attention.

Dylan Byers at Politico says:

Weissberg spoke at the conference about "viable alternatives" to white nationalism, including the creation of "Whitopias," according to the American Renaissance website.

National Review commenters are upset that National Review has decided to fire its racists:

And the purge continues. Bloody hell.

This purge is all about the replacement of a spine with a limp wrist.

Now, with [Weissberg's] and Derb's sacking, NRO has become much more intellectually gray and monolithic, just like academia.

I'm taking it that the group that "brought this to your attention' was either Media Matters and Little Green Footballs.
So you are thanking groups whose sole purpose is to scream "racist" and intimidate conservatives into purging real conservatives.
Pathetic!

What happened to freedom of speech. Since when telling the truth was wrong.

See, I would have gone with: "Bigots Are Like Cockroaches: If You Find One, Kill It", but that would cause problems, wouldn't it...

Makes sense, doesn't it?
Think about the kind of environment a racist would be comfortable in.

I will never get used to Little Green Footballs being lambasted by the right-wing. That site was so toxic.

I love when people cry "Freedom of Speech!" when bigots get fired, as if the FIrst Amendment guarantees the right to say anything at all, with no consequences.

OMG did you read the summary of what the speakers said posted at the American Renaissance's own website, as linked through Politico's reporting of this story? It is straight out of the Nazi Party. White Power and white supremacy to the max. I swear. To God. Eugenics, "voluntary" sterilization, whites and East Asians are smarter than everyone else, multiculturalism and intermixing of the races is bringing all of society down, Muslims this, blacks that, "anti-fascist thugs" as enemies, lots of (ignorant) talk of genes, lots of mentions of "race" - it is total, shameless Nazi racism, in the year 2012. I don't see how you not fire this guy Weissberg, unless you want to say, "You know what? You're right. We need a White America.". The fact that their readers are complaining merely reflects what they are: Racist.

Floater, you do not exaggerate! I wouldn't have believed it without seeing with my own eyeballs.

Freedom of speech means you have the right to climb on your soap box and scream insanities while everyone ignores you.

Why does a racist - oh, I'm sorry - "conservative" site fire it's bigots? If this keeps up they'll have to shut down the site.

Hey, what's wrong with all those guys going to be together in some "Whitopolis?" Maybe just carve out a nice section of Alabama/Mississippi and keep to themselves. We can cut it off from the power/data "grid" and let them form their own society. They can start their own schools, and govern themselves.

Good riddance.

I would ask them this:

"What, exactly, were these people backing that made them 'true conservatives' in a way that the people who are left at the National Review are not?"

Either they have to admit not only their racism, but that "true conservativism" IS racism, or they get a chance to prove they have legitimate concerns about legitimate viewpoints being censored and thus address any appearances that they're racist.

Of course, most likely they simply deny that the writers are racist at all without really answering the question.
