This is fantastic, well-deserved news: The Seattle Channel received a record-number 21 Emmy nominations—including one for Station Excellence—from the Northwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Art & Sciences (NATAS), it was announced this morning.

The city-operated television station also received nominations for Art Zone with Nancy Guppy and City Inside/Out with Brian Callanan, which is a huge coup after losing former political host C.R. Douglas in July of last year.

“These nominations underscore the Seattle Channel’s commitment to helping our city’s residents connect with their local government and their community.” said Mayor Mike McGinn in a released statement. “I congratulate the station on its work.”

Seattle Channel bagged four Emmys in both 2010 and 2011, and two years ago was named the best government TV station in the United States by the National Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors.

The NATAS region includes Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington; The regional Emmy awards will be announced June 2. Congratulations and good luck to everyone over at the Seattle Channel.
