A new poll released today from Strategies 360 shows Darcy Burner leading Suzan Delbene in the 1st Congressional District race by a 12 percent to 11 percent margin, well within the poll's +/- 4.4 percent margin of error. John Koster, the only Republican in the race, leads all candidates at 36 percent, while Steve Hobbs and Laura Ruderman trail at 6 percent and 3 percent respectively. Darshan Rauniyar and Larry Ishmael each draw only 1 percent support.

The poll of 500 likely primary voters was conducted July 15-17. Check out the topline data and crosstabs for yourself.

I haven't spent a lot of time analyzing the crosstabs, but my first reaction is that both Burner and DelBene have reasonable arguments for spinning this in their favor. On the one hand DelBene has largely closed the gap on Burner, who had substantial leads in all previous polls, so that shows momentum. On the other hand, DelBene had pretty much outspent Burner 700,000 to 1 on media over the past few weeks, and still hasn't managed to take a lead.

My understanding is that both SurveyUSA and PPP have been in the field in WA-01 in recent days, so we could get a couple more independent polls shortly.
