One of the big stories from the August primary was how surprisingly piss-poor Republican Reagan Dunn did in the attorney general's race against his Democratic rival Bob Ferguson. With most of the ballots counted, Ferguson now leads Dunn by an impressive 52-38 margin.

Those numbers bode ill for Dunn in November, especially considering the spectacular 62-33 ass-whooping Dunn suffered here in populous King County where voters know the two county council members best. To put that in perspective that's a point worse than perennial crackpot Richard Pope earned in King County against incumbent attorney general Chris Gregoire back in the 2000 primary. Dunn also trails Pope's performance statewide by about a half point, so it's not just a King County thing.

Yeah, it's only a meaningless top-two primary and all that, but Dunn's numbers are embarrassing. Republican funders might want to think twice about throwing good money after bad.
