1. Here are the themes for the four nights of the convention:

Monday: “We can do better”
Tuesday: “We built it”
Wednesday: “We can change it”
Thursday: “We believe in America”

2. It will focus on Romney's faith, which is a big departure from the Romney strategy in the past.

3. The ghost of Ayn Rand will haunt the convention. There will be a tribute to Rand-lover Ron Paul, for one thing, and for another, the stage will be done up in a "Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired piece of architecture." (Wright, of course, is the inspiration for Howard Roark in The Fountainhead. I don't believe this to be a coincidence.)

4. Donald Trump might "fire" a Barack Obama impersonator.

5. Performers include Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Oak Ridge Boys.

6. Michele Bachmann is hosting a screening of Occupy Unmasked, the documentary that turned out to be Andrew Breitbart's last message to his people.

7. Oh, and there's still that pesky hurricane, too. Unless you get your news from Rush Limbaugh, in which case everything is fine.

8. I'll be reporting live from Tampa all week, right here on Slog. Unless the hurricane kills me.
