As has been reported elsewhere, a new Elway Poll confirms a small but consistent 44-41 lead for Democrat Jay Inslee over Republican Rob McKenna in Washington's gubernatorial race, largely due to a 19 point gender gap. But perhaps more interesting is that Democrats are leading up and down the ticket, including races for open seats for attorney general and secretary of state, offices currently held by Republicans.

In the secretary of state's race, Democrat Kathleen Drew leads Republican (and putative frontrunner) Kim Wyman 40-32, while Democrat Bob Ferguson has jumped ahead of Republican crown prince Reagan Dunn by an inexplicable 40-27 margin.

In other races, Democrat Troy Kelley leads Republican James Watkins 36-27 for the open state auditor seat, Democratic incumbent Peter Goldmark leads Republican Clint Didier 39-29 in the race for lands commissioner, and sorta-Democrat Brad Owen leads sorta-Republican Bill Finkbeiner for Lt. Governor, 43-27. Elway apparently did poll the races for state treasurer and insurance commissioner because, really, why bother? The incumbent Democrats will win both against token opposition.

Of course, it's only a poll, and the election is still 8 weeks away. But the Republican brand doesn't seem to be doing too well at the moment.
