Rush Limbaugh Calls Candy Crowley a Terrorist

Posted by on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 12:23 PM

Politico has a transcript of Rush Limbaugh's head explosion from earlier today. Conservatives last night were waffling between blaming the audience (Goddamned New York libruls!), blaming the fact that there were excessive questions by women (Goddamned women!), blaming Obama (Goddamned interrupter!), and blaming Candy Crowley (Goddamned uppity woman journamalist!). Here's what Rush decided to land on:

“In a real world, [Crowley] would’ve committed career suicide last night. In the real world — in the media world I grew up in, her career would be finished,” he said.

He added: “She committed an act of journalistic terror or malpractice last night. If there were any journalist standards, what she did last night would have been the equivalent of blowing up her career like a suicide bomber. But there aren’t any journalist standards anymore. And she’s going to be praised and celebrated, probably even get a raise, give her another half hour on that show she hosts.”

Never forget 10/16. It was like the 9/11 of journalism, wrapped up in a Hitler-skin jacket and covered with a powdery dusting of anthrax.

This just proves Obama won. The losers always blame the moderator.

Limbaugh, Coulter, et al. are proffessional trolls. No one listens to them who are not already perfectly aligned with their views. They do not actually shape public opinion, they pander.

In a real world, Limbaugh never would have had a career to begin with.

I don't think the Rush knows journalistic integrity.

Evidently we now exist in a post-real world. Shit just got deep.

@2,

I don't fully agree with that. They empower the assholes who agree with them to spew their crap all over the place. That has an effect on our culture overall.

My right-wing birther in laws even disassociate themselves with Rush.

'Oh! No, we don't listen to him.'

And FOX News started griping about how the questions were all wrong a minute after the debate was over. These guys can't win on a level field.

If we run with the "suicide bomber" analogy--and why not? It's so deliciously stupid--wouldn't her aim be to also take out as many other journalists' careers too?

Actually, that could be funny.

"Hannity? This is Anderson Cooper. Listen, weird question, but did you get fired today?"

"Yes! What the fuck happened?"

"Some crazy bitch on TV blew up all our journalism. This is horrible Hold on, I've got someone on line 2. Hello?"

"Cooper! It's Karl Ravech here from ESPN! Listen, weird question, but . . . "

"Yeah, we all got fired. Everybody. That Crowley creature really fucked all of us. TMZ is in flames and Cat Fancier has denounced ocelots in a fit of broken insanity."

@3:

Conversely, in "Limbaugh's world", no one is ever held accountable for anything they say or do, so Candy would be off-the-hook either way.

Candy is a conservative.

Or at least has been many times in the past.

I think Comrade Rush's fishing for binders again.

So what you are saying is that Limbaugh sat in his chair and said that Ms. Crowley is a "terrorist" - is that what you are saying?

I - I - I want to make sure we get that for the record because Limbaugh specifically stated that Crowley committed "terror" but at no time did he call her a "terrorist."

@ 2, just because you don't personally know anyone who listens to them, doesn't mean that they don't have huge influence among voters as a whole. Their bullshit has crept into the culture to the point that a solidly centrist Dem, only slightly to the left of George H. W. Bush, is widely believed to be extremely liberal.

This matters. Ignore them and they WON'T go away, because powerful interests are paying for their access to the media.

I agree with @6. Way back when ACT-UP & Queer Nation were operative we said & did outrageous things in part to make it safer for the more "reasonable" voices to be heard. Rush provides that same sort of cover.

By calling Candy Crowley a terrorist any other criticism of her, no matter how outrageous comes off as reasonable.

Drudge listens to Rush, Halperin and Todd read Drudge, Dionne and Brooks watch Halperin and Todd, and then NPR broadcasts Dionne and Brooks.

This from the blowhard imbecile who calls feminists Nazis. WTF does Limbaugh know about journalism, anyway? He's never been a journalist; he's an entertainer. He might as well be doing his crappy schtick in the Catskills with the ghost of Henny Youngman. Except that Youngman was sometimes funny.

@15, you're just like those fucking idiots who have been saying "Obama only said the Benghazi attacks were an act of terror, not that the attackers were terrorists". WTF do you think terrorists do? By definition terrorists are people who commit acts of terror. People who commit acts of terror are terrorists. Suicide bombers are terrorists. WTF is wrong with you dumbfucks?

Are you suggesting that unless he says "the consulate in Benghazi was attacked by Islamic extremist terrorists" that he's saying it was attacked by the girl scouts? Forget voter ID, we need to prevent mindless morons from voting. Where's the ID that proves you have 2 brain cells to rub together to stay warm? Don't have it? Go fuck yourself.

As for Limbaugh, I will say this is one of the few times I agree with him. There are no journalistic standards anymore. If there were, he, Hannity and the rest of their crew would have been tied up in the basement of Faux news while that morally bankrupt shithole burned to the ground .

This is all FOX News Hogwash. The talking heads guarding the inhabitants of Bullsh*t Mountain from rejoining the world of the sane just won't budge. Fox News is a propaganda machine which dumbs down America by the day through disinformation and their slanted agendas. See their anchors spewing forth feces from their mouths in my visual homage to the network on my artist’s blog at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2012/…

Rush Limbaugh is right, there are no journalistic standards anymore. The proof is that he still has his show.
