2012 Awesome 80-Year-Old Woman Steals LaRouchies' Signs

Fox News reports that a Connecticut woman named Nancy Lack decided she wasn't going to tolerate LaRouchie bullshit any longer:
Lack, who is 80, saw the sign portraying Obama with Hitler's trademark toothbrush mustache near a sidewalk display set up along Main Street by supporters of fringe presidential candidate Lyndon LaRouche in downtown Hebron. She slammed on her brakes, spryly jumped out of her car and strode toward the display, where she snatched a free-standing sign and tore two more from a display table manned by LaRouche backers. The sign showed the offending image with a call for Obama's impeachment "fast and furiously."
“I just got very angry that they would do that to [President] Obama’s image,” Lack told WVIT-TV. “A woman was following me to the car and I put the posters in the car and I said, ‘Make sure you get my license plate.’”
The woman did, and Lack was arrested - but said she has no regrets. She said she made a determination that, even in today's polarized political climate, this was worth getting handcuffed over.
Nancy Lack is so awesome, I don't even mind linking to Fox News. That's how awesome Nancy Lack is. Speaking of Hitler mustaches, I haven't seen the LaRouchies in Seattle lately. Maybe they finally discovered sex? Or do they just migrate to Connecticut for the winter?

They had their protest tables on Bainbridge Island's Town & Country market last Saturday. They were baiting motorists by yelling "Shame on you!" as their troll tactic. Annoying fucks. I bet they also have big Romney photos with Hitler mustaches ready just in case he becomes president.

@8: You called it. The LaRouchies are dickheads, but as I commented on another thread I have friends in the Midwest whose pro-Democrat yard signs have been removed or vandalized in the past, and who get shit from some of their neighbors just for having them.
Hateful as the Obama/Hitler crap is - and the lady's age and surname make me wonder if she doesn't have a little more personal opinion about that fucking little moustache - tearing it down from private property is a no-go.

They used to hang out at the post office on 145th and Aurora. I got into it with them more than once, but the best thing I ever saw was the elderly Jewish gentleman with his concentration camp numbers on his arm berate them over their signs and shoving those numbers in their faces.

Yeah, unfortunately, what @5 said is true. I saw a couple larouchebags outside the Admiral Safeway just yesterday. Not sure why they moved from the West Seattle post office to there. I wish they would at least have the decency to scum up the Eastside instead of actual Seattle...

While I disagree with the LaRouchies, I find their Obama/Hitler imagery far less infuriating than the fawning, unconditional support Obama gets from so-called progressives. "Obama's our guy! Pay no attention to the extrajudicial executions, indefinite detention, remote-control slaughter of civilians in Pakistan, extraordinary rendition (i.e. outsourced torture), torture of Bradley Manning, aggressive prosecution of whistleblowers, prosecution of child soldiers, oil drilling in the Arctic, crackdowns on medical marijuana (he won't prosecute torturers, but he will prosecute those who try to relieve people's suffering), etc." Obama may not be as bad as Hitler, but he is a repulsive piece of exreme-right-wing shit. In Pakistan, the latest tactic is to launch a drone strike, wait for rescuers and loved ones to come to the aid of the injured and dying, and then launch another strike, killing the rescuers (this seems to have been borrowed from "Mockingjay"). If you oppose Dick Cheney but support Obama, you are a supporter of hypocrisy, because the only difference between Cheney and Obama is that Cheney is far less of a hypocrite. Given Obama's hatred for civil liberties, I guess it's not surprising that his supporters would celebrate an assault on the LaRouchies' freedom of speech.

They set up at 23rd and Jackson by my apartment a few times in the spring/early summer. Then one day there was a fistfight over it. Took the police like an hour to sort the whole mess out.

I think Ms. Lack's actions here are an understandable act of civil disobedience. Hitlerizing somebody could even conceivably fall under "fighting words" doctrine.

For all those idiots out there, who believe Constant is capable of locating his own vagina (not this lifetime), please understand that LaRouche has always run various financial fraud scams (served time in jail for credit card fraud, etc.), and this crapola is the same stuff he's been pulling ever since the put that block on IRS tax return forms (check if you want a $1 going for presidential campaign, etc.).

A difference between this lady and the goobers who generally steal or deface signs: She took her lumps for it. She dared them to find her, got arrested, and didn't whine about it. She accepted the consequences of her actions and didn't run away and hide like a coward.

It started out back in the sixties as one variety of socialist, then for a while they claimed to be Democrats and ran in their primaries. There is no connection, and never has been, to the Libertarian Party. I've known of them since the late sixties, and have been a member of the LP since the early seventies, so I know this as a fact.
Second, the Larouchies -- idiots that they are --have the same rights as anyone else. The Government cannot suppress their otherwise lawful speech, and if some citizen tries illegal ways of opposing them, they can expect to be arrested. Ms Lack's action was understandable, but illegal. Dutchie's reaction is understandable, but again he is wrong. While he has every right to be offended, he has NO "right" to commit assault and battery, no more than the Taliban had a "right" to shoot a schoolgirl because they disagreed with what she said.
