To celebrate the approval of the Memorandum of Understanding to build a new basketball/hockey arena in the Sodo neighborhood, Seattle-based dairy company Darigold commissioned "nationally renowned butter sculptor Linda Christensen" to sculpt a rendering of the proposed new arena out of, you guessed it: A 110-pound block of Darigold butter.

The real arena will likely look nothing like "The Butter Dome." Nor will it presumably be constructed entirely out of butter. But, you know, if Darigold is willing to spend enough money to purchase the naming rights, anything's possible.

The sculpture will be on public display tomorrow at Elysian Fields in Sodo, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. No word yet on what they plan to do with all that butter, but if anybody has an arena rendering constructed entirely of toast lying around, I suggest they give Darigold a call.
