The war metaphor drumbeat coupled with the music is pretty unsettling. I hope the Treasury Department's finest will double down on protecting the prez from the type of people inclined to take this literally.

He's right that young people can't be arsed to vote in the midterms. Democrats will lose the Senate and Obama's Supreme Court nominations will be toast. Probably see some anti-gay marriage initiatives pass on the state level too.

The headline is an insult to Leni Riefenstahl. The video is pretty much crap on every level, and say what you will about her choice of causes, she could direct one hell of a propaganda piece.

Hear that? The conservative movement is stronger than ever, because there are more and more (and more!) of us. Why, Governor Romney is going to win this thing easily. Oh, wait.
I gotta say, for people who are so worried about deficits, they sure seem to think highly of President Reagan.
President Obama's reelection is a devastating blow. But it's not a decisive defeat.
Except for that part where your guy was defeated, decisively.

So maybe it isn't the people who are so very much divided in this country. It's those goddamn political think tanks and PACs who, posing as the academic voice of reason, scare the living shit out of those easily swayed.
You can't put limits on freedom of speech. I would never suggest that, but I try to extrapolate what wing-nuts and their money will ultimate do to this country and I don't like what I see. Education and critical thinking aren't priorities to a lot of people. If they see it on a TV commercial, it has to be fact. Right? And the wing-nuts know the dumber they are, the better.
One thing that might help is bringing back the equal time rule. Maybe TV stations won't air crap like this if they have to offer free time to opposing viewpoints. It used to work just fine, but the Republicans got rid of it.

I have never understood why Republicans are considered fiscally sound. Whenever they take control of government they spend like drunken sailors and drive the deficit up immensely. They are the part that depends on massive government spending to juice the economy. It should be noted that Obama cut the deficit $200 million last year. A Romney presidency wouldn't be doing that.

@21 -- Republicans are considered fiscally conservative (only by other conservatives, not by well informed non-conservatives) because they're masters of the shell game and their marks are so gullible they don't even realize there's a pea under one of the cups. That's why they love Reagan so deeply -- he preached fiscal responsibility. Never mind that he didn't practice it, the preaching was what they came for.

I actually went to Williams College with that guy, kind of sad to see that nothing in his worldview has changed.

Don't you know? This election was a mandate for conservative ideas. Because they didn't lose their majority in the House.
