Some Peace In the Middle East

It will hold temporarily and then start up again at some point in the next few weeks months, or if they are really lucky a couple of years

@1 - The constant low level warfare will go on as always since Israel's policies will continue to preclude a political solution, but the last escalation of this sort was also right after Obama's election, when he also supported Israel's actions.

"Israel's policies will continue to preclude a political solution" like Israels disengagement from Gaza which was met with two years of rocket barrages BEFORE the "seige" began. Like Israel's policy of Hamas murdering all of its political opposition in Gaza after the first election. Those dang Israeli policies.

@3, Israel eventually pulled ground troops out of Gaza but didn't stop controlling its borders and didn't stop its expansion in the West bank and Jerusalem and didn't stop its racist policy of apartheid in general. If you want Israel to have a sensible negotiating partner to reach a political solution, it has to stop fueling extremists from either side.

When are you people ever going to present all the facts, instead of regurgitating pro-Israel propaganda?

"@3, Israel eventually pulled ground troops out of Gaza"
yes Israel gave it back hoping for peace, then hamas in the last year sent about 800 ockets into israel, starting war.

"but didn't stop controlling its borders"
actually the interdict is only for arms, stop lying.
"and didn't stop its expansion in the West bank and Jerusalem" Israel has offered back most of the west bank land.
" and didn't stop its racist policy of apartheid in general. "
actually, in israel arabs get a vote. and are allowed to live in tel aviv. what apartheid you are talking about?

"If you want Israel to have a sensible negotiating partner to reach a political solution,"
then hamas should declare it no longer wants to eliminate israel, and should simply STOP THE ROCKETS aimed at israelis.
"it has to stop fueling extremists from either side."
um, actually, hamas is more extreme since they started the rocketing, and israel waited patiently all year till about 800 rockets fell, then israel used force. to blame israel is ideological. and wrong. israel isn't (a) saying they want to eliminate gaza, or (b) shooting rockets at Gazan civilians for a year; israel is (c) reacting to hamas shooting at israel. but go ahead spew your hate.

Well said. And the "you people" racist crap really points out what kind of pointy white sheet wearing guy anon1256 is. I'm not even any of "those" people.

@6, No doubt about it: you are clearly one of those people who mindlessly regurgitate Israeli propaganda (see, I give you the benefit of the doubt for being a dunce rather than a cynic).

If you and your family were dropped into my neighborhood, and my neighbors' houses razed to make room for them, my churches burned by them, my homeland taken by fiat and overwhelming military and monetary backing, yeah I'm pretty sure I'd fight to the death using every tool and advantage I could get my hands on.
There will never be a good solution to this clusterfuck.

Tell it to the Native Americans when they continue their 200 year campaign of suicide bombings.
