City Hall: Gaily Festooned and Smells Like Xmas

Posted by on Tue, Dec 18, 2012 at 12:15 PM

I'm not sure if the City Hall menorah is still on display, but Slog tipper Aaron says there's a live Christmas tree spreading the heavenly* scent of pine throughout the foyer and up into Tim Burgess's cracks and crevices on the second floor. In addition, the beautiful decorations erected for City Hall's Big Gay** Wedding Day are still up.

Basically, today is the perfect day to take a lunchtime stroll through City Hall (600 Fourth Ave), denizens of Seattle.

Smells and looks so purdy!

*Only smells reach heaven.
**Straights were also more than welcome to tie balls n' chains into knots at City Hall on December 9, although I have no knowledge that any straight couples did.

So nice that Celeste Cooning's hard work has an extended life.

I hope those "hitchin' post" podiums find good homes, either in city departments or with LGBT-friendly organizations. Maybe Dan should buy one for his roadshow—POTUS carries his own, why not Dan?—and to enlarge his collection of historic furniture.

that wouldn't be pine being smelled...more than likely it would be a fir (Abies) or doug fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii - not a true fir) - without a more detailed photo i would guess the latter.

pines do not make good xmas trees.
