Today, Anonymous posted a 12-minute video that appears to show high school students in Ohio mocking a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by at least two team members of the popular Steubenville high school football team last August. But let's back up for a moment:

Things already sounded fishy in Steubenville, Ohio, where the alleged gang rape and kidnapping of an unconscious 16-year-old by two of the town's high-school football players has turned into a complex web of accusation, shock, and, well, Instagram photos. But conflicting reports over an already emotional case became that much more complex today when a WikiLeaks-style site dumped new information about team boosters, the town sheriff, and the alleged "Rape Crew" online — information rounded up, of course, by the anonymous hacking collective known as Anonymous.

The video is incredibly disturbing. You should watch it because it illustrates the culture of rape that women are conditioned to fear—you know, the one feminists are often accused of "whining about" or fabricating entirely. In the video, young men boast and cackle about rape among themselves.

"She is dead," says one guy who's been tentatively identified on some blogs as a former Steubenville High School baseball player. "They raped her harder than the Duke Lacrosse Team. She is deader than Trayvon Martin. Her puss is about as dry as the sun right now."

"This isn't funny, it's hilarious," he later adds.

Sure, the teenage guys appear to be drunk. Sure, high school students say dumb, crude shit all the time. But being drunk doesn't excuse their violent glee at the thought of a girl being raped by their friends, just as youth is no excuse for being a callous monster. No apology will erase the vile shit said on this video. I hope it follows these fucks around for the rest of their lives.

Thanks (?) to Slog tipper Melissa for the tip. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go hug a puppy.
