1. Newt Gingrich seems to be very against Karl Rove's plan to drum the Teabaggers out of the Republican Party:

Newt Gingrich joined the conservative opposition to the effort led by Karl Rove to back establishment GOP candidates against more fringe contenders in primaries with an op-ed Wednesday, comparing it to famously corrupt Democratic machines of the 20th century.

“I am unalterably opposed to a bunch of billionaires financing a boss to pick candidates in 50 states,” Gingrich wrote in the conservative magazine Human Events, citing Rove by name.

Yes! Newt Gingrich hates the idea that wealthy businessmen should control the candidates of the Republican Party. That goes against everything the party stands for!

2. In other news, the super-wealthy Koch brothers are trying to shore up their control of Republican candidates in upcoming elections.

They’ve blessed the formation of a new secret money nonprofit group, the Association for American Innovation, POLITICO has learned. It will be run by former top AFP strategist Alan Cobb and will wage a behind-the-scenes push in state capitols for reforms consistent with the brothers’ small-government, free-enterprise philosophy, including possibly curbing union power and abolishing income taxes.

Americans for Prosperity is moving forward with a new initiative to block the implementation of Obamacare, and has hinted it may get involved in congressional primaries for the first time in 2014, which could pit it directly against Rove’s effort.

The 2014 elections are going to be totally fucking fascinating.
