Eight bajillion friends of mine have reposted this "6 Things That Happened While Y'all Were Preoccupied With Gay Marriage" post from Black Girl Dangerous. I'm glad they have—it has some great information in it and you should go read it (and fuck you, Rick Ross).
But on a related note, I'm bummed out about this "Here's what's happening while you're concentrating on this" approach to presenting other important movements and news. I get the positive intent behind it, but it is possible to juggle support for multiple causes. Being passionate about gay marriage doesn't mean I'm less passionate about feminism, for instance. Or gun control. Or anything else, really. My political agenda isn't Homer Simpson's brain. Something doesn't fall out of my head in order to make room for something else.
