Have you noticed the new pro-gun posters that have been scattered around the Pike/Pine corridor recently?

I see what you're doing there, poster—you're trying to appeal to people who support basic civil rights by arguing that allowing other people to own a gun is comprable to allowing other people to marry or fuck whoever they want to marry or fuck. But there's a huge flaw in this logic: Gay marriage does not threaten other people's lives whereas gun laws DO.

I don't want to see better gun control just because I dislike guns, and if I don't like it no one else can have it. I don't like cilantro either, but I'm not going to fight to make cilantro illegal or, at least, less attainable. Gay marriage, cilantro, those things aren't actual threats to me. Guns are.

Having access to a gun is not a basic human right, and it's quite insulting to tie it up with something that actually is.
