He is a beagle-basset hound-boxer, and yes, that is wrong. This is a case of equating "wrong" with "ugly," and as an observer of aesthetics, I find these comments interesting:

"This dog looked like he's been photo-shopped with pieces from various dogs and maybe a few other animals," judge Brian Sobel said. ...

"People come up to me and say that dog is not right," Barbee said, "but I love him."

A dog who naturally looks Photoshopped is ugly, while our entire consumer world is built on images of impossibly "beautiful" Photoshopped people.
