CBS News says:

Senator Marco Rubio, R-Fla., plans to introduce a bill in the Senate to ban abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy, the conservative magazine the Weekly Standard reports.

While the senator hasn't officially announced his support for this effort yet, a Rubio adviser tells CBSNews.com that anti-abortion rights groups have asked him to take the lead on this, and there may be an announcement on the matter when he returns from the Fourth of July holiday next week.

If it happens, this is clearly a case of Rubio trying to patch it up with his crazy-ass teabagger base after pushing for an immigration reform bill that was unpopular among conservatives. But it's going to be a tough sell for a 2016 Rubio presidential campaign. Do Republicans really think that women voters aren't going to be a vital force in three years' time? Or is this whole leaked story just Rubio's way of testing the waters, to see what the response to his support of an abortion bill would be? He can't be that stupid, can he? Can he?
