First, I direct your eyes, dear reader, to this trailer for the movie Austenland, based on the book by Shannon Hale. It's being co-produced by Twilight author Stephenie Meyer, if you care.

Somehow more entertaining, to me at least, though, is a story out of London that begins like this:

People in London are learning the sobering lesson that Colin Firth's legendary sex appeal as Pride and Prejudice's Mr. Darcy, the star-making role he played in the BBC's 1995 miniseries, is somewhat lost when he is transformed into a 12-foot fiberglass sculpture.

Giganto-Firth, The Guardian's Liz Bury reports, currently rises out of the Serpentine lake in London's Hyde Park and is meant to invoke the scene in which Darcy takes a refreshing (and sexy) swim.

When I saw the headline "Giant Colin Firth Terrorizes London," I thought it was a link to the Onion. But no, it is quite real. The article has a picture, of course, which you should obviously go see for yourself.
