In a July 17 article concerning our endorsements for the August 6 primary election, we wrote that Goodspaceguy, a candidate for King County Executive, wants to colonize the moon. Goodspaceguy does not want to colonize the moon. Goodspaceguy thinks that colonizing the moon is a stupid idea.

"I am an advocate of colonizing orbital space, which would be much more healthy than colonizing the moon," says Goodspaceguy, who does not quibble with the paper's characterization of him as "delightfully batshit" but does ask that people stop using his full name—the name that appeared on ballots for years when he ran (unsuccessfully) for office, which was Goodspaceguy Nelson. He explains that "in orbital space, we can rotate the space colony to create one gravity, which humans need for health, but on the moon, the gravity level is one-sixth of the earth's gravity, which is very unhealthy for humans." Goodspace guy notes, nevertheless, that "we can send robots to the moon, because they don't need one gravity. That is why I am predicting that real space colonies will be in orbit, not on the moon or on Mars." We are updating our online archive and regret the error.
