Taylor Soper at GeekWire says:

President Barack Obama will visit an Amazon.com fulfillment center in Tennessee next week to talk about the country’s economy, manufacturing and high-wage jobs.

Obama’s choice of Amazon is interesting on a couple accounts. For one, Amazon has taken several hits over the past few years as it relates to its treatment of warehouse workers, with some workers in Pennsylvania being taken out in wheelchairs and stretchers after suffering from heat stress two summers ago.

If President Obama is using an Amazon fulfillment center to demonstrate what the American economy should look like—built on temporary jobs that don't provide health insurance, willing to fire employees for speaking to each other on the clock, and generally not treating employees like human beings—we're all in for a very bad time. Soper explains that at least one group is going to be at President Obama's speech to protest Amazon's fight against collecting state sales taxes. Hopefully more groups, representing different causes, will join them. It should be a great opportunity to raise awareness about the sacrifices the Great Walmart in the Sky makes to get your cheap products to you in a timely manner.
