- August 28, 1963: Opening day on the 520 floating bridge.
Another 50th anniversary—of much less import than this one—happened yesterday. The "longest floating bridge in the world," Seattle's Albert D. Rosellini Floating Bridge (aka 520), was opened half a century ago this week.
The bridge is not much longer for this world, and its replacement seems to get more expensive by the day. As a cost-saving measure, perhaps someone could dig up these never-to-be-improved-upon scissors and use them over again for the next bridge's ribbon cutting ceremony:

- Albert D. Rosellini had tremendous scissors, so they named a bridge after him.
