Yesterday, I wrote about the Million Veteran March on DC and how it became a freakshow packed with teabaggy politicians and Sarah Palin. Today, a Slog reader and veteran named William contacted me to let me know that the Million Vet March organizers were not happy that their protest was hijacked by those dimwits:

William adds:

Speaking for myself and other veterans, we don't want to be lumped in with the crazies no more than any other marginalized population. Plenty of us support Obama and critical thinking skills. With the amount of negative press surrounding veteran's issues, the last thing we need is employers and Americans thinking we're dumbshit bigots to top it off.

Thanks, William. I don't want you to get the impression that I think all vets, or even a significant sampling of vets, are rabid, racist teabaggers. I was responding to what the event became, but it should be absolutely clear that the event was co-opted by a handful of teabaggers into something very different from its original intent. I'm sorry that I didn't make that more clear.
