In this 1989 documentary, Kowloon Walled City, an accidental urban experiment that was demolished between 1993 and 1994, is penetrated by German poetry...

The documentary focuses on the negative side of the city, but what we should see in this amazing experiment is how much density is possible before natural order collapses. What the images of Kowloon make clear is that human socaility can support a very large number of people within a very small space. This is not a nightmare. This should be seen as a concrete utopia.
