In December, students at Eastside Catholic protested after the Archdiocese of Seattle ordered the school's vice principal, Mark Zmuda, fired for marrying a man. Today, news comes that Sister Mary Tracy, the president and head of school at Eastside Catholic, has resigned from the school.

KIRO 7's Casey McNerthney acquired a copy of the letter announcing the resignation. In the letter, the school's interim board of trustees write that Tracy came to the decision in order to make way for a new president who can "ensure the entire Eastside Catholic community is moving forward on a positive path." They continue:

We realize that members of the Eastside Catholic community (students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni and friends) may have questions. In that spirit, the board is in the process of setting up additional town hall meetings with the Eastside Catholic community. A school parents' meeting is currently scheduled for Thursday, January 23. We will notify you as soon as additional meeting dates are scheduled. The board has also established an email address for questions and communication with the board: boardoftrustees@eastsidecatholic.org.

You can read the rest of the letter at KIRO's site.
