I found this doll two weekends ago on the beach at Discovery Park—or actually, that kid holding it found it. He was wearing camouflage and said he was taking it home to put in his bedroom. Their outfits matched, the two of them. He told me he found it just sitting out there in the sun on a piece of driftwood, and we wondered whether it had special powers we would not like to know about, or special powers we would like to know about, or no powers besides the ones you see. It had a pretty sophisticated structure of wire mesh and papier-mâché, and we think it's Medusa. Here is its face.
