Hello. If you're interested in extraordinary old movies, and have a calendar that you mark things on, you may want to mark your calendar for these exciting Orson Welles opportunities (or EOWOs) coming down the pipeline.

The first EOWO is SIFF Cinema's screening of a new digital restoration of The Lady from Shanghai on March 21 and 22. Welles screenwrote, directed, and produced this 1947 noir, and also conjured an unforgettable Irish accent in the lead role.

The second and third EOWOs, scheduled to happen between April 10 and 14, are 35 mm screenings of both Citizen Kane and The Magnificent Ambersons at the Grand Illusion. The latter is known for being heavily edited by the studios, but it's still a fantastic movie, with prime examples of Welles's distinctive camera work. The former is of course, known by all.

Keep an eye on our film calendar for a more specific screening schedule as the dates approach.
