This week’s Short Film Friday is “An American Day,” a work by Shaun Scott, a local filmmaker who in 2012 was nominated for a Stranger Genius Award. The short is about an American who is not officially an American. She is not recognized by the state. She does not, as the British say, have her papers in order (sans papiers). What the short is saying is that US citizenship is much more than documents or official political representation. It is ultimately an experience. The phat beats for “An American Day” were made by Spekulation.
