TechCrunch says that Facebook is looking to turn drones into flying ISPs. The plan: "blanket" the world with Internet access, especially the 2/3 of humanity that currently has no Internet. The incentive:

If Facebook can use Titan’s drones to be someone’s first experience on the Internet, they’re likely to get deeply hooked into the social network’s service and eventually become a lucrative lifetime user.

Google, for its part, is going a bit more retro. It wants to use hot air balloons to do the same thing.
