The Heavy Jelly DJ night returns from its long hiatus to animate the Capitol Hill bar Speckled & Drake tonight at 9. Propelled by the encyclopedic knowledge and deep crates of Slog contributor Mike Nipper (who spins 45s at the Emerald City Soul Cluband Talcum monthlies in garishly hued tight trousers) and Jive Time magus Scott Davis, the original Heavy Jelly DJ night happened at the remote northern Seattle outpost of Snoose Junction Part Dieu from 2010-2011 for most of 2010 and revolved around "sike, freakbeat, and fuzz." This time, Nipper says, "I think we're shooting for '60s West Coast Acid/Midwest Sunshine/Garage & Beat." Your Shazam-ing will be futile—bet on it.

Expect to hear jams like this and other obscure treasures, after the jump. Learn more about Heavy Jelly here.
