Gun nuts will argue that this proves the futility of banning guns. Ban guns—or make them harder to get, or institute "onerous" background checks, or require mandatory training for gun owners—and the bad guys will use something else. Knives! Minivans! Cinderblocks! But knives are less deadly than guns and a knife attack is far less likely to result in scores of deaths, as evidenced by today's attack in Pennsylvania.

So let's just go ahead and ban guns.
