Shot in the Hoh Rain Forest on the Olympic peninsula, “Prospect” is a moody work of science fiction about aliens (who happen to be us, humans) prospecting for some valuable substance (orlak—spelling might be wrong) on a strange, very distant, very green, and very much alive planet. ”We are small, we are smart, and the forest is big,” says one prospector to another. The future we see in this short has not escaped the long arms of capitalism.

“Prospect” is by local filmmakers Zeek Earl and Chris Caldwell, and it premiered at the 2014 SXSW Film Festival.
