It has been 19 long months (!!!) since we've seen new episodes of Louie and the wait has felt especially brutal since Louie is the best show on TV right now. (Not counting Bob's Burgers, of course—did you watch the latest Brony episode? Fucking genius.) But Louie's coming back! Finally! Season four will begin Monday, May 5th (thanks for not making it air Sunday nights, FX, unlike EVERY OTHER TV SHOW IN THE WORLD). There are 14 new episodes, which are still 30 minutes a pop, but FX will air two new episodes every week, giving us an hourly dose of Louie for seven glorious weeks. Math!

As a comic, Louie C.K. embodies a rare combination of intelligence, empathy, and self-deprecation that makes his jokes both relatable and thought-provoking. He's not afraid to make himself vulnerable for the sake of a larger point, and that transfers over so well into his show, as he allows the other characters to be as much of the story as he is (I'm still haunted by Parker Posey's storyline). While these vague black and white ads for the new season tell us nothing about what's to come, they do hint at the possibility that Louie will be delving further into his search for love, an exercise that is always hilariously heartbreaking (or, sometimes, just heartbreaking).

And speaking of new seasons of amazing TV shows: As I was writing this, the trailer for season two of Orange is the New Black was released. It'll go live on Netflix June 6th.

I love you, Crazy Eyes.
