Of course I love me some goofy Weird Al silliness, but, generally, I can't stand old or (ahem) new novelty rock and roll acts. Like bros who start a "joke" metal band, so they can pretend to be rock stars in a fucking metal band? Uh, NOPE. Anyway, in 1962, Mad magazine released an album of cheeky teener tunes parodying period, cherub-faced teen vocalists which were then filling AM radio; it's called, Mad Twists Rock N' Roll. Oh boy, so full silly middle school kid goofy grossness and, thus, perfectly Mad!!

FYI: this LP almost cracked the Top 100; it's not-so-spectacular ascension ended at position 108. Now, if you're needin' more Mad-ness, dig these (s)hits: "I'll Always Remember Being Young," "All I Have Left Is Johnny's Hubcap," and, natch, "When My Pimples Turned to Dimples." The next year Mad followed up Mad Twists Rock N' Roll with Fink Along With Mad! It's just as brilliant.
