(Neumos) What you need as spring transitions into summer is a whole lot of Nightmares on Wax in your earholes. That is, if you like ganja’d-out funk with mellow, beautiful vocals and tropical undercurrents that get the green, black, and red into the mix. And who doesn’t? Right now I’m listening to NOW’s “The Sweetest” from their 2006 album In a Space Outta Sound and its laidback, lubricious skank perfectly distills a breezy, sunny, carefree vibe better than almost anything else that’s legal. The last time NOW played Seattle, leader George Evelyn and co. ranged widely through their deep catalog (they’ve been with Warp Records since 1989) and seduced a packed Neumos crowd. Their latest LP, Feelin’ Good, induces in you what it says on the cover through more of NOW’s gently euphoric, dub-inflected jams for dancing in your swimming-pool raft.
