So there's this movie coming out called The Interview, where Seth Rogen and James Franco go to North Korea to interview Kim Jong-un, and then the CIA tries to get them to assassinate him. They become bumbling buddy-spies, you know the drill. I think this movie looks stupid and probably racist, but I'm not nearly as pissed as Kim Jong-un himself.

I'd assume this was fake movie promotion, but given that it's in the New York Times, I'm taking it seriously:

North Korea on Wednesday warned against the release of a Hollywood comedy about a plot to assassinate its leader, Kim Jong-un, calling the movie an “act of war.”

“If the United States administration tacitly approves or supports the release of this film, we will take a decisive and merciless countermeasure,” a spokesman for its Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement carried by the state-run Korean Central News Agency.

The spokesman did not elaborate on what North Korea’s retaliation might be. But he accused Washington of “provocative insanity” in mobilizing a “gangster filmmaker” to defile the country’s supreme leader, and reported “a gust of hatred and rage” among its citizens and soldiers.

Here is the trailer, if you'd like to see what has gotten Kim in such a tizzy:

Look, you guys, I wrote a poem: This is the way the world ends/This is the way the world ends/This is the way the world ends/Not with a bang but a Seth Rogen and James Franco buddy comedy.

DISCUSS.
