THE RAINBOW TO END ALL RAINBOWS: CHER AND CYNDI LAUPER TEAM UP

(KeyArena) Whaaaaaat crazy rainbow dream of dreams did we just stumble into here? The one and only Cher and the one and only Cyndi Lauper? These boss babes (as David Schmader calls them: “fagnetic performers”), both in their 60s, have teamed up for Cher’s D2K (Dressed to Kill) tour, which means that while your ears will no doubt be treated to your favorite hits from the queen of weird and the queen of weirder, your eyeballs will be slapped with all the wigs and costumes you can handle. Jeweled jumpsuits! Egyptian headdresses! So much leather! EMILY NOKES

THE MULTI-FACETED CAREER OF GALAXIE 500'S DEAN WAREHAM

(Crocodile) Ex–Luna leader Dean Wareham once covered a French song (Serge Gainsbourg’s "Bonnie and Clyde") with a French singer (Stereolab’s Laetitia Sadier) that appeared in a French film (Olivier Assayas’s Irma Vep). Then he and wife Britta Phillips landed the ultimate art-pop coup when they scored Andy Warhol's Screen Tests. They’re two highlights among many: Between his time in Galaxie 500 and the release of his Jim James–produced solo debut, Wareham acted in a film (Frances Ha) and wrote a memoir (Black Postcards). Earlier this year, he also gave a vanity-free performance as an Ambien-addled version of himself in Hospitality's "Going Out" video, peeling away his veneer of sophistication in one fell swoop—a good look on a guy who's sometimes seemed too cool for school. A TRASHY NIGHT OF SQUAWK N' ROLL AT THE RENDEZVOUS

(Rendezvous) Fiiiiiii-nally! Someone put the Trashies on the same bill as Trash Fire! Now WE ARE talkin'!!! Both of these local bands are reminiscent of the kind of funtime punk rock that makes you wanna put your headphones on and get out your old skateboard and try to do a kick flip off that goofy bronze sculpture of Jimi Hendrix near Broadway and Pine Street. Or maybe you don't skate, so this kind of music makes you wanna shotgun a can o' Rainier, and then crush the can on your forehead. Or maybe you don't drink, so this music makes you wanna spit a big loogie up in the air and then catch it back in your mouth. Any of these options are perfectly suited to this breed of boneheaded boner rock. IT IS SO FUN! One of the Trashies dudes moved to Oakland, too, so they don't play very much anymore—don't miss this chance to see 'em. KELLY O
