If you loved Chico Madrid to a nearly alarming degree, the news of its closure this spring ruined a tiny bit of your world.
But: good news, everyone! The light-filled little former home of Chico Madrid has been reborn—as of today, it is Cafe Barjot, run by beloved-by-all Wylie Bush of nearby neighborhood favorite Joe Bar. The name is a little joke on "Joe Bar" backwards, which sounds like "barjot," which is French slang for crazy. There's a new turquoise blue espresso machine, and a liquor license coming soon; other than that, Bush says they haven't changed much, which is good, because the space is nicely Euro-stylish without being annoying about it. The sidewalk seating there sounds pretty much perfect for a day like today.
