KPLU's Ed Rosco tweets from a mayoral press conference this morning:

There's more here. Hey, what do you know! Another victory for Council Member Kshama Sawant (and Nick Licata, who also opposed the salary increase, calling it "ostentatious"). As for the rest of the Council Members who authorized the mayor to give Carrasco a $114,000 raise—well, y'all look pretty damn silly right now.

3:20 p.m. UPDATE: Sawant takes a victory lap on her City Council blog, citing the Seattle Times reporting on Carrasco's ham-handed online brand management and his giveaway of copper wire to scammers. "This reversal is also a direct result of having a socialist elected representative, without which this issue would have been business-as-usual in City Hall," she says.

Murray, meanwhile, according to the Times' Jim Brunner, is considering a very Murray-esque thing in response to the brouhaha: the creation of an independent commission to set salaries.
